iPhone 3Gs/3G Desktop Charge And Sync Cradle

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Tis the season to be jolly, or at least the aftermath by the time this article is published. I suspect many of you by now are in possession of a shiny new iPhone 3Gs, or have been handed down an iPhone 3G if a significant other, friend or family member has upgraded.

With the iPhone 3Gs likely ending up in so many new hands this Christmas, it’s never been a better time to look at iPhone Accessories, and with the stock Apple cradle being a little expensive I’ve chosen to cast my eye over a £9.95 bargain, the iPhone 3Gs/3G Desktop Sync And Charge Cradle over at MobileFun.

Proporta USB TurboCharger 3400 Review

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

After trying out the Proporta emergency travel charger and finding it an extremely handy accompanyment to my array of gadgets I was itching to get my hands on something beefier. Fortunately Proporta delivered once again with their recently released USB TurboCharger 3400.

Proporta Maya II Case For iPhone 3G, HTC Hero and more

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

The Maya II Case from Proporta is another feather in their well adorned cap and is, of course, a refinement of the original Maya style slip case of which I am a big fan.

Little has changed with the Maya II in terms of fit and dimensions, however this new range has been considerably shrunk down to four simple options: Pink, Black, White and Orange. These new colour schemes come with a new detailing that combines different colours and textures of (imitation) leather along with cosmetic stitching into an attractive whole that, despite the lack of available colours, trumps the original Maya range.

OtterBox Defender Case For iPhone 3G Review

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I’ve always had a soft spot for the strangely alluring looks of rugged gadgets. From the Garmin Oregon, to the Sonim XP3, the thought of a device that doesn’t die the minute it encounters the most trivial of harsh conditions is somewhat comforting.

The OtterBox Defender brings some of this ruddigity to the iPhone 3G, adding a durable, solid plastic case with a rubber shell that protects from shocks and light spills but doesn’t afford the iPhone with full waterproofing or indestructability to the level of the Sonim XP3 or, indeed, any other truly rugged device.

iPhone 3G FlexiShield Skin

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

I’ve never been a huge fan of *bling*, but there’s something kind-of appealing about the diamond patterned back of the transparent iPhone 3G FlexiShield Skin. The unique pattern of diamond-shaped lenses makes for an eye catching case back to the extent that it must be the first iPhone 3G silicone case that I’ve not torn off my iPhone and discarded in disgust.

Cygnett Groove Fusion Earphones Review

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Before I start I should probably say that I’m not particularly a fan of earplug style earphones. I tend to find them somewhat intrusive, however I put this aside to write this review.

First off. How do the Cygnett Groove Fushion ‘phones look? They’re pretty much identical to every other earplug style earphone out there, however they have an attractive silver finish and feature an equal split cable and a plain zinc connector. They have nothing to differentiate themselves from any other earplug and are nothing to write home about.

Qstik EVOQ Bluetooth Headset Review

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

You can pick up a tolerably good Bluetooth headset right now for just £9.95 and not only make yourself look like a cyborg with the daringly shaped ear-piece but connect the supplied stereo earbuds and rock out to your music from an A2DP compatible phone.

I’m referring to the Qstik EVOQ Bluetooth Headset which has received plentuy of positive feedback, and it’s not difficult to see why. The EVOQ is a flexible bluetooth headset which can go from being a (slightly ugly) ear-piece to affixing to your car dashboard as an in-car hands-free system or sitting in your pocket piping tunes to your ears via bluetooth A2DP and the supplied earbuds.

Sena Corsa Designer Case For iPhone 3G Review

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

With the iPhone 3GS on the horizon, and no significant external design changes I figure it’s a good time for another round of accessory reviews.

I’ve no plans to grab an iPhone 3GS, so at the moment I’ll have keep my eye on cases and accessories compatible with both devices. Fortunately the iPhone 3GS is identical in size and shape to the former iPhone 3G, so I can carry on bringing you the skinny on the latest cases as usual.

The Sena Corsa Designer Case is an almost brand-new case design from Sena Cases who have produced some extremely well finished and stylish designer leather cases in their time.

Sennheiser CX550 Style II In-Ear Earphones

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Review by Rob Farley

The Sennheiser CX550 Style II earphones are your typical, in-ear, noise blocking affair. These noise blocking, sound producing earplugs are loved by as many as they are hated and their form factor is as close as you can get to the Marmite of ‘phones.

Most of the “hate it” camp, however, could be safely assumed to be comprised of people who have never tried in-ear headphones, or simply tried a cheap pair without an adaptor suitable to their ear size. There’s absolutely no doubt that good quality in-ear phones consistently sound better and fit better than regular earphones.

Retailing at about £50-£60, and produced by the enormously popular and successful Sennheiser the CX550 are much more than just noise making earplugs and are certainly not cheap, especially when the excellent MX560 earphones, and many other entry-level ‘phones retail at under £20.

So, are the CX550 Style II Earphones worth the extra mulah?
