Qstik EVOQ Bluetooth Headset Review

July 2nd, 2009

You can pick up a tolerably good Bluetooth headset right now for just £9.95 and not only make yourself look like a cyborg with the daringly shaped ear-piece but connect the supplied stereo earbuds and rock out to your music from an A2DP compatible phone.

I’m referring to the Qstik EVOQ Bluetooth Headset which has received plentuy of positive feedback, and it’s not difficult to see why. The EVOQ is a flexible bluetooth headset which can go from being a (slightly ugly) ear-piece to affixing to your car dashboard as an in-car hands-free system or sitting in your pocket piping tunes to your ears via bluetooth A2DP and the supplied earbuds.

Proporta Maya Camera Case

June 30th, 2009

Maya Digital Camera Case

In a surprising, but really rather pretty fushion of the design cues of their Maya and Perfora range of cases, Proporta have produced a digital camera case. It blends the diagonal-stripe of the Maya line, with the perforated leather of the Perfora cases, producing something that compliments both but really tops them in terms of style.

This fusion of Maya and Perfora is, perhaps, the best looking slip case design I’ve yet seen from Proporta, helped by the bold, striking neon green option and stitching detail. One can only hope we see phone and netbook versions of this style soon.

Razer Sphex “Gaming Surface” Review

June 29th, 2009

Just in case you’re wondering exactly what a “gaming surface” is, it’s a fancy term for gaming mouse-mat.

No mouse mat could be more deserving of such a fancy term than the Sphex, however. Named after a genus of wasp, “Sphex” implies that any gamer with it stuck firmly to their desk will dominate their opponents.

Sena Corsa Designer Case For iPhone 3G Review

June 22nd, 2009

With the iPhone 3GS on the horizon, and no significant external design changes I figure it’s a good time for another round of accessory reviews.

I’ve no plans to grab an iPhone 3GS, so at the moment I’ll have keep my eye on cases and accessories compatible with both devices. Fortunately the iPhone 3GS is identical in size and shape to the former iPhone 3G, so I can carry on bringing you the skinny on the latest cases as usual.

The Sena Corsa Designer Case is an almost brand-new case design from Sena Cases who have produced some extremely well finished and stylish designer leather cases in their time.

Sennheiser CX550 Style II In-Ear Earphones

June 22nd, 2009

Review by Rob Farley

The Sennheiser CX550 Style II earphones are your typical, in-ear, noise blocking affair. These noise blocking, sound producing earplugs are loved by as many as they are hated and their form factor is as close as you can get to the Marmite of ‘phones.

Most of the “hate it” camp, however, could be safely assumed to be comprised of people who have never tried in-ear headphones, or simply tried a cheap pair without an adaptor suitable to their ear size. There’s absolutely no doubt that good quality in-ear phones consistently sound better and fit better than regular earphones.

Retailing at about £50-£60, and produced by the enormously popular and successful Sennheiser the CX550 are much more than just noise making earplugs and are certainly not cheap, especially when the excellent MX560 earphones, and many other entry-level ‘phones retail at under £20.

So, are the CX550 Style II Earphones worth the extra mulah?

Proporta Maya Leather Style iPhone 3G Case

June 22nd, 2009

Yes, it’s yet another iPhone 3G case review. This time it’s a slip style case which comes in an array of colours (and sizes, if you want a Maya case for a device other than the iPhone 3G) with two coloured, diagonal stripes to add interest.

FUEL - Xbox 360

June 20th, 2009

Review by Johnus Maximus

Fuel - Xbox 360 - box artIn an alternate present where global warming ravages our world, society has retreated to safety and shunned the use of fossil fuels. An underground racing circuit arises where brave drivers compete against each other, the landscape and the ferocity of Mother Nature herself.

This is the premise of FUEL, the newest release from Asobo Studio (published by Codemasters), available for Xbox 360 and PS3. With 5000 square miles to explore and over seventy vehicles to collect, despite a few flaws this truly is a huge and awesome sandbox racing experience.

Logitech G19 Keyboard Review

June 18th, 2009

logitech-g19.jpg

Ever since the tragic-looking G11 which I couldn’t even muster the effort to shrug at, Logitech have been soldiering on, taking strictly evolutionary steps in an apparent effort to make a keyboard, the functionality of which could replace your computer entirely.

The G15 was a much sleeker and thoroughly more attractive step in the right direction, ditching the casio-organizer design cues and integrating the LCD firmly into the board itself but it still didn’t have the wow-factor that Logitech have finally achieved with the G19.

The trouble with wow-factor, however, it that it doesn’t do an awful lot to improve your performance in-game.

iPhone 3G Protective DomeSkin

June 18th, 2009

Do you remember the days when interchangeable face-plates and casing on phones was all the rage? These days, everything from dinky feature phones to behemoth smart-phones flatly refuses to be defaced with cheap market-stall *bling*, but not all is lost.

The world of device skinning has exploded into a wealth of online sites. They all offer glorified custom stickers or decals which you can adhere to the front of your device to afford a little personal touch.

DomeSkin isn’t just another device skin, however, it combines the increasingly popular trend of skinning with a clever, thickened, dome-like layer that affords your iPhone, iTouch, iPod or BlackBerry enough protection to warrant *gasp* you placing it in your pocket otherwise naked (the device, not you).

Proporta Universal Emergency Travel Charger

June 15th, 2009

I’ve been using the Proporta Universal Emergency Travel Charger on the odd occasion for a while now. It was a difficult device to actually test in the short run, because you don’t really know if it fits the bill until you have an emergency I-really-need-to-charge-this situation.

I didn’t quite get there, but managed to try this handy little device with a range of gadgets to test its charging abilities.
