Macally iPad mini Rotating Folio Case Review
If, like me, you find yourself doing a lot of travelling, then you will know that finding the perfect case for your iPad mini is essential. The latest design from Macally may just be the perfect travel companion. The Rotating Folio case is lightweight, durable and comes with a little twist, literally.
You may have thought it was the pretty pink and green pastel shades that sold this case to me, but you would be wrong. The rotation feature is the unique selling point of this case. The Macally Folio is easily folded into a comfortable typing stand and, with a quick rotation into a portrait position the iPad is ready for using Facetime or Skype.
One of the most important aspects of a case is the protection it offers. The iPad mini snaps into the hard-shell backing with ease and fits snugly. The matte backing prevents the case from scratching the device and further edging around the case provides optimum protection and security. This is a slick, slim line case that keeps the device safe but doesn’t add too much bulk.
The case is well equipped with cut-outs for the lightning connector, audio jack and microphone. These can all be reached with ease whilst the case is in use and when closed. There is a cleanly aligned cut out for the camera so you wont get any pink tints to your photos. Though there is no cut out for the audio, there is a gap at the bottom of the case, which allows the audio to exit.
The down side of this case is that the cut out for the volume and silence switch is difficult to get to. I have fairly small hands but struggled to adjust the switches comfortably.
A magnet is situated next to the Macally logo on the front of the case. This is to keep the case securely closed. It worked pretty well during the first few weeks of using the case but it now falls open without much effort. This feature doesn’t activate the sleep mode on the device, which is something other cases offer, but this isn’t a big issue.
Overall, this is a beautifully stylish iPad mini case, offering proficient protection with a minimalist and slim-line design. For £39.99 the Macally iPad Rotating Folio Case is pretty good value.
