Proporta Maya Leather Style Apple iPad Case

The dust from the announcement of Apple’s iPad is still settling and, as usual, people are separating into love-it and hate-it camps with an extraordinary level of separation. Sure, there’s probably more indifference out there than there are lovers or haters, but they’re keeping quiet about it.

If you’re dreaming of grasping an iPad and need something to fill the gap between now, and one arriving in your hands then you’ll be interested to know that you can already pick up an iPad case in anticipation.

Apple’s own case is rumoured to fetch a pretty penny, is durable and functional but does nothing to separate your iPad from the leagues of others out there. If you want an Apple iPad case with a difference then you’ll be pleased to know that the Proporta Maya Leather Style case will almost certainly fit the iPad and most probably also squeeze the official Apple iPad case into its confines too!

I reviewed the Maya Style case a while back as part of my coverage of the Samsung NC10 and netbook cases in general, it’s not hardwearing but is well padded and sufficiently attractive, if a little monochrome compared to some of its bright Perfora series counterparts.

Indeed, the Perfora series will fit the iPad too.

Anyway! If you want to start preparing for your new gadgetoid baby now I’d highly recommend either of these cases in addition to the official Apple iPad case. That extra padding could be the difference between the life or death of your tablet when tucked into a bag, but the padding alone is simply not sufficiently protective. Hopefully Proporta will come up with an aluminium lined alternative to the official iPad case once they’ve got a product in their hands to achieve an exact fit.

Most 10″ netbook cases are likely to fit the iPad, and when I get my hands on one I’ll be sure to re-test my stock in an epic not-quite-iPad case run down.
