Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity - Wii

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity box artReview by Johnus Maximus

Sega’s most iconic character has returned with a sequel to 2006’s Sonic Riders. This time around Sonic and friends can increase their speed and manipulate the race track with the help of gravity controls. Despite an awkward control system, the game boasts a decent mix of tracks, characters and game play modes and is a fairly decent racer with which to pass time until Mario Kart Wii is released. Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity was released in February for Wii and PS2.

Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 Review

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I’ve been a big fan of Unreal Tournament since first playing the PC demo of the, now GoTY edition, original UT. It was, perhaps, the first game I ever rushed out to purchase and tear from its grossly oversized cardboard box, as was the style at the time.

The original Unreal Tournament was uncomplicated fun and entirely focussed on online play like Tribes was to Starsiege, this design ethic hasn’t changed in UTs evolution and Unreal Tournament 3 is true to its origins; bringing back fond memories of classic UT moments and creating just as many new ones.

TerraTec Cinergy T USB XXS

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Adding another low priced laptop TV Tuner to the lineup TerraTec introduces the Cinergy T USB XXS which, as its name eludes, demands one of your precious USB ports in return for sweet, sweet digital freeview television.

If you’re a couch potato to the max and simply must have digital television on your laptop computer the Cinergy T USB XXS will do just that, it includes a remote control, ariel with suction cup and an adaptor to allow you to connect to your house roof ariel.

In my experience the roof ariel adaptor is a must, as I’ve never really been able to get a digital tuner ariel in just the right position to obtian watchable TV.

Still, at £29.99 if you want TV-to-go it’s a lot cheaper than the Slingbox Solo/Freeview Tuner setup I would opt for. You’re also likely to get a better picture, better control and, of course, a digital recorder so you can fill up your hard drive with stuff to watch on the go.

Box art

Review by Johnus Maximus

Released in February 2008 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, The Club, developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Sega, is a foray into a seedy underground club of guns, violence and points multipliers.

In a world already packed to the brim with quality first person shooting games, The Club actually provides a refreshingly unique cross genre gaming experience and can be enjoyed by both hard-core and casual gamers alike.

Gadgetoid Welcomes Meridian Audio

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

With products ranging from £1,500 to £150,000 there’s no doubt that Meridian are a true audiophile and videophile brand. Meridian, founded in 1977, family-owned and based in Britain, manufactures everything from loudspeakers, complete music centers and home cinema systems and, until now, has done so below the radar of many of their potential customers. Now they are attempting to break into the luxury goods market and gain a higher degree of brand recognition as a company that delivers the highest possible performance gear to discerning customers and not necessarily just discerning audiophiles.

And this isn’t an unbased claim, Meridian is a multi-award winning company with much critical and industry acclaim as a world-leader in digital and analogue audio reproduction. They have some 135 awards for 156 products/innovations to date and have won the British Design Council Award for Outstanding British Products an unprecedented three times.

You can visit www.meridian-audio.com for more information or check over the fold to learn about some of their key products.

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

If compact portable recorders get your juices flowing you may be interested to hear about the new Edirol R-09HR. Not only does it look good but it packs some serious recording power with the help of an integrated stereo condensor microphone and crystal clear 24/96 fidelity. The R-09HR is now placed as the flagship of Edirol’s R-series recorders.

An integrated preview speaker will allow you to quickly play back your recordings without headphones or external speakers. Another gem of an included accessory is the wireless remote, allowing for full control over transport functions, volume and input level whilst the R-09HR itself is placed in the optimum position for recording.
