Korg Kontrol 61 First Impressions

The Korg Kontrol 61 has made it into the Gadgetoid studio for a once over and is an impressively different control surface that’s, unlike any I have used before. In short it’s built like a brick shi… err outhouse.

It’s big, fat and has a solid metal base that looks like it can take some gigging abuse unlike many control surfaces that seem just a little flimsy and plastic. The Korg Kontrol 61 eminates a professional look and is clearly built to be used on stage.

The Kontrol is loaded with pretty lights, which is handy if you both like that sort of thing and like being able to see the status of your controls and drum pads on a darkened stage.

My only complaint with the Korg Kontrol so far is that the sliders, which are hefty solid affairs, have pretty sharp edges on them… yeah, I’m a wimp and don’t want to hurt my girly little keyboard tickling fingers.
