I've even got the fridge freezer and some other ridiculous things plugged into it at the moment (kitchen being refitted) and have yet to have anything blow up or erupt in thick black smoke. There's nothing pure about the electricity coming from a bare outlet, so I'd find it very hard to believe that iMacs require anything specific, and even harder to believe that their power supplies don't benefit from the slightly conditioned power supplied by the APC UPS.
