Proporta USB TurboCharger 3400 Review

After trying out the Proporta emergency travel charger and finding it an extremely handy accompanyment to my array of gadgets I was itching to get my hands on something beefier. Fortunately Proporta delivered once again with their recently released USB TurboCharger 3400.

The USB turbo charger delivers several refinements and a much more polished overall package over the emergency charger, coupled with a generous 3400mah which is more than enough to fully recharge many gadgets twice over with power to spare. The 3400mah of this model is what makes it worth considering, and far more useful versus the weedy 1200mah version.

First and foremost, the charging cable has been ditched in favour of a single dual purpose cable that both charges attached gadgets and recharges the battery itself. This is an excellent choice, that saves having to carry two cables around if you want to charge up your emergency charger at work or elsewhere.

Gone is the barrel connector port for recharging, a standard mini-USB takes its place meaning it’s a synch to charge it off a cable that might already be handy.

The cable is identical to that of the older version travel charger, a standard spooling affair that ensures nothing gets tangled. It connects to a standard, full sized USB port and accepts a number of adaptors on the other end which will allow it to charge a plethora of gadgets. The standard USB port on the battery itself means that you can simply plug in the cable supplied with your device if there’s no adaptor available.

I’ve been able to drastically extend the battery life of my MiFi 2532 mobile wireless router, my Nokia N810, various phones, the iPhone and have even used the TurboCharger 3400 to power a mouse and keyboard hooked up to a USB hub. Overall, this svelte, sexy, black emergency charger is something that no self respecting gadget nerd should go without- add it to your gadget bag, and if you’re like me it’ll not be long before you pick up another one.
