Sync Your iPod Anywhere With TuneRanger

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

If, like me, you own an iPod and sync it with your home computer to keep its library of songs up to date with your latest listening preferences, but have always wanted to do the same when someone brings a CD into work or recommends a track then TuneRanger could be the software for you.

TuneRanger allows network syncronisation of iTunes libraries across Mac OS X and Windows computers, going so far as to support iTunes sync over the internet. This is all well and good, but where TuneRanger really shines is its ability to bi-directionally sync your iPod to both your home computer, your workstation and more.

This means you can pop that new CD on your iPod at work and listen to it on the way home.

Roland’s New RD-GX Series Digital Pianos

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Due in March, Roland’s new RD-GX pianos are a sight for sore eyes. Adopting the design aesthetic of the Juno-D, V-Synth GT and Roland Fantom G series the RD-700GX and RD-300GX Digital Stage Pianos boast a stunning black aluminium surface.

Looks aren’t the only thing the new RD-GX has borrowed from the Fantom G series, however, as the pianos boast an electric-piano sound back derived from Roland’s new and unique SuperNATURAL technology. This allows for new depths of realism, expression and control.

Arcam Solo Movie 2.1

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The Arcam Solo Movie 2.1 is £1450 of High-end Upscaling DVD / CD / DAB Stereo Music & Home Cinema system. It boasts significantly better sound performance than the £1000 Solo Music and all the video quality of the £2000 Solo Movie 5.1. The video and upscaling hardware comes right out of Arcams £1000 players giving it 1080i video upscaling and 1080p HDMI switching.

If the video and audio performance isn’t enough to float your boat, the unit is also stunningly designed attaining minamalism without actually doing so, the fascia buttons are cunningly disguised as styling and everything is accessible without being visually overbearing.

DMX 6 Fire USB From TerraTec

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The little known TerraTec, producer of some pretty damned good products in my opinion, are now offering a USB edition of their popular 6Fire PCI audio board.

The unofficial successor to the DMX 6Fire 24/96 has been completely overhauled to deliver oodles more performance and pump out 96bits/192kHz via a USB 2.0 interface.

Arcam’s compact Solo Mini

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Building on the success of Arcam’s Solo the Solo Mini takes modern trends to their extremes and brings us a sleeker, smaller Solo that even manages to slim the price tag down to a respectable £650 sans speakers.

This miniturised version of the Solo retains all the performance of its bigger brother and sacrifices just a little loudness whilst being still powerful enough to fill a good sized room for a party or serious music listening.

HP iPAQ 214 “Enterprise” Handheld

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

The PDA market is in a seemingly endless slump, nothing since the last of the AXIMs and the HP iPAQ series has shown any significant improvement in power or features. When it comes to hand-held computing Moore’s Law just doesn’t seem to apply.

The HP iPAQ 214 is no exception to this modern trend, but it’s a rare and thus warmly welcomed addition to the choice of non-mobile-phone PDAs on the market with some pretty impressive specifications that far eclipse those of the HTC Kaiser and similar current popular Windows Mobile phones.

Ten Thousand Pounds Of Home Cinema Awesome

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Ever wanted to know what ten thousand pounds of home cinema kit looks like? Take a gander to the right. Beautiful, is it not? When a product is dubbed ‘Imperial Death Star’ you know it means business, not only is this £10,000 monster of a build quality that puts brick outhouses the world over to absolute shame but the £4999 AV Pre/Processor packs a list of features so long that the front of the unit is emblazoned with more logos than a sports store window.

Read on! Macduff, and damn’d be him that first cries, ‘£1000?, enough!’”

The 10 Megapixel Ricoh R8

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Already two versions removed from the Ricoh R6 I reviewed what seems like only weeks ago the Ricoh R8 is the successor to the R7. Both the R7 and the R8 tout a 7.1x optical wide-angle zoom lens with a 28-200mm in 33mm focal length in an incredibly compact package at just 22.6mm at its thinnest point.

The R8, however, touts an impressive 10 megapixel CCD combined with the R7s popular Smooth Imaging Engine III image processing engine. The R8 really is high-definition photography in your pocket.

The body of the R8 has undergone a complete re-design to produce something far more contemporary and stylish than the earlier models.

The Ricoh R8 will arrive in March for around £249.99 and has notably dropped the “Caplio” moniker present in its predacessors.
